The Fighting Illini women's cross country team lost just one letterwinner from last year's squad and had a goal to make significant improvements with this year's team.

Fifty-two University of Illinois student-athletes in five fall sports were named to the Academic All-Big Ten teams, the conference announced Thursday. Complete List of Honorees |

Redshirt freshman Alyssa Schneider and senior Courtney Yaeger earned All-Region honors after finishing first and second for the Illini at the NCAA Midwest Regionals.

Illinois will head to Springfield, Mo., for the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships on Friday, Nov. 9. The 6K race is slated to begin at 12 p.m.

Senior Meagan Hynes lead the Illini at the Hoosier Invitational on Friday afternoon. Three of the five runners placed in the top-10 and two in the top-20, collegiately.

Five Fighting Illini women's cross country runners will head to Bloomington, Ind., for the Hoosier Invitational on Friday with the 5K race starting at 2:30 p.m. CT.
